A punching die will be expensive and leave sharp edges. I would look into having them waterjet cut........

The best way I've found to make grinder scratches disappear when doing welded ''branch'' joints is after grinding use a needle scaler with rounded, polished needles and heat. Cold blue works too. Hot brushing the joint with a wire cup wheel really blends it nice but in amongst other branches this can be difficult.

are those shoes steel toed, or sneakers?
Yep.... :P -
If you're using OA for the twists don't get it so hot......Shearing and crumbling are what happens with too much heat........The alloy could be a factor as well....

Good point Bob,I use WD40 to flush out the crap every so often, then re lube.

Galling is usually caused when things are too tight, make sure the ram moves freely and smooth out the galled areas or it could happen again.

I have some wrought iron telegraph wire that's probly 5/32'' in dia, perhaps using that as filler rod with a tig would be a good fix for the horn...??

Sweet! But I don't think you could clamp it to the kitchen table and drive everybody insane using it in the house like a zipper..... ....Awesome tool ya got there...... B)

What rankled us in Colorado so much was first it was 6....It is what it is..... B) ....Then went to 9 for a short time..... .....Then it was 4 when we woke up one morning, It just seemed like a kick in the teeth.... ...At least they didn't adopt the all vertical baluster rule.............
Other rules boggle my mind though. Like the one that sez that a stair railing (commercial) will extend 2' past the bottom riser and only 1' past the top, like they're more concerned someone will fall UP the stairs....... .....I personally wacked off a foot or so at an owners request off a griprail that extended out into a hallway after he got his CO.........I know, I know, the Gestapo will drag me away one day..... -
One very cool old enamel sign! There are quite a few of those in this country but they usually have some bullet holes in em.....Thanks for sharing.... B)

I just sold an 80lb PW in not as good shape as that one for $390 and the guy was real happy....me too for that matter.... ^_^
If I needed that anvil and had the money I'd go as high as $4pp cause you can do a lotta lookin' for one that nice and not turn up squat....... ;) -
Back when I started in architectural iron work in the 70's the allowable space between pickets/balusters was 6''-. For a time for whatever reason that was deemed excessive at least here in Colorado and it grew to 9''-. What you see is my size 9 feet at a corner of a railing at my Mothers apt built in the 80's with a space at 8''+ and the rest are a little tighter. She used to have chicken mesh on this balcony rail to keep the nippers in...... ......There are still many of these ''Grandfathered in'' railings everywhere and to my knowledge theres never been a problem..... ......Somewhere in the later 80's Colorado and the US in general went to the world standard of 4'' or 100mm- and boy did we howl, but it was probly for the best..... The safety issue alone is enough reason to dump the pedestal grinder! I only use my small one for buffing.
Pish tosh, The small ones, can git you too. I've had my run ins with pedestal buffer/grinders and I learned from my mistakes and the mistakes of others which is the smart way. They have thier place and can be a valueable asset to any shop but KNOW what you're doing before you hit the switch........ ;) -
how many thumbs does it take to "hang" a hammer handle?
